An open-source interactive computing environment that allows users to create and share documents combining live code, text (via Markdown), equations (via LaTeX), and visualizations. Jupyter Notebooks are widely used in data science, machine learning, and scientific computing for tasks such as data exploration, model prototyping, and reporting. They support execution in a cell-based structure, enabling a mix of narrative and code execution, which makes them ideal for reproducible research and educational use. Originally developed for Python (hence “Ju-Py-Ter” for Julia, Python, and R), Jupyter now supports many programming languages through the use of kernels. Notebooks can be run locally or hosted via cloud platforms like Google Colab or JupyterHub.
